Where do you stand?

In Where do you stand, the facilitator prepares a space where participants can move freely between two clearly marked positions representing agreement and disagreement, then introduces the basic distinction between different categories of human rights. A series of statements related to rights, poverty, and social responsibility is read aloud one at a time, and participants position themselves along the line according to how strongly they agree or disagree. After each statement, the facilitator invites participants to explain their positions, encourages dialogue between differing viewpoints, and allows people to change position as they reflect on others’ arguments. Once all statements have been discussed, the group comes together for a debriefing to reflect on the diversity of opinions, the learning process, and how these debates relate to real‑world human rights issues.
