Description
Renting an apartment is a roleplaying game for a group to teach about stereotypes and discrimination. Two participants are chosen as a couple, who are searching for an apartment, and asked to wait outside. Meanwhile the rest of the group is divided apartment owners with different backgrounds, interests, and situations in life.
The couple’s goal is to convince apartment owners to rent them a place, whereas all apartment owners are instructed to refuse renting to the couple. During the game, the couple asks all apartment owners, even repeatedly. It can be stopped when the dynamics are stopping or when the point has been made (couple understands that nobody will rent the apartment). After the game, hold a debrief session, in which everyone is asked what happened and how did they feel.
