Description
Digiraati (Digital council) is a Finnish public participation platform targeted for young people under the age 29. Councils can be organized by ministries, municipalities, wellbeing services counties, other public authorities, schools, and NGOs. It’s free for both organizers and participants. The platform is coordinated by the Ministry of Justice and is under development.
In Digiraati, participants discuss about a predetermined topic for 1-2 days or 1-3 weeks, for instance. Discussion happens in written form on a closed forum with a nickname. A trained facilitator directs and supervises the discussion to ensure progress, safety, and smoothness. The goal is to form a statement of the topic to be published and forwarded to highlight youths’ insights.
